Hobie Wave August 15, 2011
Reviewer: Mike Stapleton from Egg Harbor, WI United States
We have owned a Wave for over 10 years. Although I race keel boats and teach sailing on a variety of mono-hull boats the Wave is our personal boat. My daughter is now 19 and loves to trapeze as much as she did when she was 10. My 48 year old wife is the same way. We wait until the wind is over 12 then it really gets fun. We use the boat in lighter air evenings to watch the sunsets in Door County. It takes only minutes from trailer to water and do it all myself at age 60.
Would highly recommend adding the jib option. Can't say that I have ever sailed without it. Also opted for the zipper reefing main but never seemed to use that since we would rather just hike out and go fast when the wind kicks up. I love single-handling when blowing at 20 knots +. Only others out there are windsurfers and yet the boat is  still tame enough to take out my 2 year old grandson.
Anyone thinking a catamaran is too much boat should think again.
